When my underfloor heating stopped working in my lounge, I thought without a doubt that this was going to be a big messy job to repair. I have Amtico flooring, which is like a wood effect tiling and thought this would add to the already big job.
I spent a long time trying to research how it could be repaired, and found very little information available to me. I rang UFH, and spoke to Vicky about the situation. She reassured me that it would not be a big messy job and that they would be able to help me. She even took time to listen to my worries about this job and I felt more positive about it following our conversation.
When I got round to booking for UFH to come round, I had also discovered that the under floor heating had failed in my bedroom too. Once again, Vicky reassured me that this could be looked at on the same day as my planned visit.
On the day of the repair the engineer arrived on time and was very helpful in explaining what he was going to do to find the fault. We were impressed as our engineer used thermal imaging equipment to locate the fault under the floor.
Within a short period of time, he had found the fault and carefully lifted one of my wooden Amtico tiles in one piece. He then showed us the fault, fixed it and poured the concrete screed over it, ready to place my piece of flooring back. I was amazed at how quick, mess free and this procedure was as well as only affecting a very small area. I had visions of my whole floor having to be taken up! In reality it was the size of one tile.
He also fixed the under floor heating in my bedroom on the same visit. Not only was he great at fixing the issue with no damage to the floor, prior to this, he helped to move all of our bedroom furniture and roll the carpet up to get to the damaged floor. This was way above and beyond what I would have expected from him.
Overall, I am very happy that I finally got UFH to come in and fix my heating – I wish I had done it sooner.
